The Bible tells us that a Messiah will come, but how will we know him? Here are a few of the Messianic prophecies from the Hebrew Scriptures:

Yeshua - Mensch, Meshugge, or The Messiah?
You Decide.
What Do You Think About Jesus? What Do You Think of Him? Who Was He? Was Yeshua (Jesus) a Mensch? A Mensch is "a real person"- someone who acts like "a real human being" and makes a positive contribution to the world. Yeshua (Jesus) was a Jewish man who lived in Israel some 2000 years ago. By profession, he was a traveling first century rabbi who delivered messages similar to the Hebrew prophets. Some thinkers say Yeshua was just a good man or a great Rabbi. In other words, Yeshua was a Mensch (a nice Jewish boy) who kept the Torah. As any Jew would, he taught, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." (Mark 12:30). However, there is one small problem. If the first century documents about him (commonly known as the New Testament) are correct, Yeshua was more than just a good teacher. He said he was the promised Messiah of Israel, and he predicted his own death as a sacrifice for sin. After he was executed, he then rose from the dead, just as the prophets had predicted. Mensch? YES.if all that he said was true! In fact, he would clearly be much more than a good person. NO.if he told lied or was wrong about himself, calling himself as the Messiah, and saying he was one with the Almighty Creator. So maybe he was crazy?
Was Yeshua Meshugge?
A Meshugge person is crazy; at best, a harmless eccentric; at worst, a dangerous, raving lunatic. Yeshua spoke of himself as the Messiah and even claimed to be God. He even made an extravagant claim, saying, "I AM the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). These are crazy, even blasphemous things to say - unless they are true! So - were they true? That's the question! A careful investigation of the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament shows that they were. Yeshua was a good teacher, and a good teacher doesn't teach fantasies as truth. Yeshua was telling the truth, or he was a little Meshugge. The famous British author C. S. Lewis, said it this way: "A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Yeshua said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic - on a level with a man who says he is a poached egg - or else a madman or something worse." NU? So was Yeshua a Mensch? Was he Meshugge? We say he was more than a Mensch, and not Meshugge at all. We say he was the Messiah.

Was Yeshua the Messiah?
The Messiah is literally the "Anointed One;' the promised Deliverer of Israel. If all that Yeshua said about himself is true, then he was not simply a Mensch, nor was he a Meshugge. He was the promised Messiah of Israel! Yeshua claimed to be the Messiah and lived a life that proved it. Yeshua is the "Messiah, the son of David the son of Abraham." He said, "I told you that everything written about me by Moses and the Prophets and in the Psalms must come true." Maybe you want to know more. Maybe you've been challenged or have shifted your thinking about Yeshua just a little bit. History has rendered a verdict - he was a great teacher, and billions live by his teachings today. He certainly wasn't Meshugge. Maybe you would like to know more about him. He said "come to me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." The offer still stands today - internal peace and a happy relationship with our Creator. Yeshua came to show us the way to truly live and have abundant life. Do you want abundant life?
